The Famous Pultec Trick
The magic of the Pultec is boosting AND cutting at the same low frequency:
| What Happens | Why It Works |
|---|---|
| Boost turnover at freq × 6 | Deep bass gets boosted |
| Cut turnover at freq × 13.5 | Low-mids get cut |
| Result | Tight, punchy low end with no mud |
Try it: Set Low Freq to 60 Hz, Boost to 5 dB, Cut to 4 dB
Main Controls
LOW Section
- Frequency: 20, 30, 60, 100 Hz (60 Hz is most versatile)
- Boost: 0 - 13.5 dB of low frequency boost
- Atten: 0 - 17.5 dB of low-mid cut
HIGH Section
- Frequency: 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12, 16 kHz
- Boost: 0 - 18 dB of high frequency boost
- Bandwidth: Q 0.5-1.5 (broad to narrow)
- Hi Cut: 5, 10, 20 kHz lowpass filter
OUTPUT Section
- Gain: -12 to +12 dB output level
- Power: On/Off bypass switch
