Quick Start ยท Version 1.0

Install

  1. Download the .component (AU) or .vst3 file
  2. Copy to your plugin folder:
    • Mac AU: ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
    • Mac VST3: ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\
  3. Restart your DAW and scan for new plugins

Basic Usage

  1. Insert Niviem Filter S/H on your track
  2. Choose mode: Filter or Sample/Hold
  3. Set Speed and Range to taste
  4. Add Resonance for more pronounced sweeps

Main Controls

Mode Switch

  • Filter: LFO sweeps filter continuously (classic auto-wah)
  • S/H: Random values sampled at LFO rate (computer bleeps)

Speed

LFO rate from 0.05 Hz (20 second cycle) to 15 Hz (fast wobble)

Range

Center frequency of the filter sweep (80 Hz - 3000 Hz)

Resonance

Filter peak intensity (Q 0.5 - 10.0). Does NOT self-oscillate.

Filter Type

  • LP: Classic auto-wah (original behavior)
  • BP: Nasal, vocal character
  • HP: Thin, subtle movement
  • Notch: Phaser-like sweeps
  • Peak: EQ-like boost

Mix

Dry/wet blend for parallel processing

Quick Tips

  • Tempo Sync: Lock LFO to DAW for rhythmic patterns
  • S/H mode: The classic 1970s "computer" sound
  • Mix control: Blend with dry for subtle movement
  • Low Q values: Warm, gentle filtering
  • High Q values: Synth-like, pronounced peaks
  • Sub 1ms latency: Safe for live performance
