NIVIEM Bucket AD01

Quick Start · Version 1.0

Install

  1. Download the .component (AU) or .vst3 file
  2. Copy to your plugin folder:
    • Mac AU: ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
    • Mac VST3: ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\
  3. Restart your DAW and scan for new plugins

Gatekeeper Note: If macOS blocks the plugin, go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → General and click "Open Anyway."

Windows Note: If you see a WebView2 message, download Microsoft WebView2 Runtime from: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/

Basic Usage

  1. Insert NIVIEM Bucket AD01 on your track
  2. Set TIME to taste (start around 200ms)
  3. Add FEEDBACK for more repeats
  4. Adjust MIX for dry/wet balance
  5. Try LONG mode for warmer, darker delays

Main Controls

Delay Section

  • TIME: Delay time (40-400ms SHORT, 80-800ms LONG)
  • MODE: SHORT (brighter) / LONG (warmer, dual-chip)
  • FEEDBACK: Repeat amount (0-100%, self-oscillates at 95%+)
  • TAP: Tap tempo button

Level Section

  • DRIVE: Input saturation (-7dB to +28dB)
  • OUTPUT: Master output (-60dB to +6dB)
  • MIX: Dry/wet blend (0-100%)

LFO Section

  • RATE: LFO speed (0.05-50 Hz or tempo sync)
  • AMOUNT: Modulation depth (0-100%)
  • WAVEFORM: Sine, Triangle, Square, S&H, Saw, Ramp

Character Options

  • COMPANDING: SA572 noise reduction (ON = crystal clear, OFF = lo-fi)
  • CLOCK BLEED: Authentic BBD clock artifacts
  • OVERSAMPLING: 1×-16× quality modes

SHORT vs LONG Mode

SHORT Mode (40-400ms)

  • Single virtual MN3005 chip (4096 stages)
  • Brighter, more immediate character
  • Best for: slapback, chorus, rhythmic delays

LONG Mode (80-800ms)

  • Dual virtual chips in series (8192 stages)
  • Warmer, darker sound due to 4-filter cascade
  • Best for: ambient, dub, atmospheric textures

Authentic Behavior: Clock-dependent filtering means longer delays are naturally darker — this is exactly how real BBD delays work!

Quick Tips

  • LONG mode warmth: The 4-filter cascade gives LONG mode its characteristic warm, dark character
  • Self-oscillation: At 95%+ feedback, the delay oscillates — control pitch with TIME
  • Companding OFF: For lo-fi, noisy character (think vintage tape)
  • Clock bleed: Adds subtle high-frequency artifacts for extra analog character
  • LFO for chorus: SHORT mode + low TIME + subtle LFO = lush chorus
  • Parallel processing: Use on a send at 100% wet, blend with fader
  • Tempo sync tip: Dotted-eighth (1/8D) = classic ambient guitar delay
  • Drive for saturation: Push DRIVE above +14dB for warm, saturated repeats
  • Reduce OUTPUT for safety: Self-oscillation can get loud — keep OUTPUT lower
